Grande River 2007

Grande River 29th June 2007.

This river is very easy to fall in love with. We got to fish section 6 in this river that included 3 pools. This river is even clearer than the Papos North. The water level is similar to Sela in Iceland but you cant even compare the clarity not to mention the stunning surroundings of this river.

We hiked to the top of our section and started fishing. After few casts to a bulk of salmon I hooked the only salmon of the day. It was a very strange to land this salmon as there was no beach so we just had to tail her in the water. You can see on the photo that the river is not deep there but it is about 100m wide. Gordy was our guide for the day and here he is taking the fly out.

Very nice 12-14pound female that of course was put back in the river. Taken on...guess what...the black, orange and yellow Snaelda.

Just stunning river, this is the lowest pool on section 6 but we hardly fished it. When we where walking up to the top pool we saw a fisherman fighting a fish in the top pool in section 5. You can see Joe and Gordy crossing the river in the distance.

This pool was in our section and is named the Green Pool and looked very, very, very good. We did not see any fish in it and we fished it couple of times this day without luck.

Joe did not hook up with any salmon this day although he tried hard catching a salmon laying straight out from the sticks. It was a very nice salmon but this pool was very hard to fish as the water current was all over the place.
