Laxa in Refasveit 2002

8-10. July 2002.

Me and Jon my brother in-law had two days in Laxa in Refasveit. We stopped by the farm Solvabakki to get the keys to the fishing lodge but my sister Hansina had spent some summers there working as a teen. After getting the keys then me and Jon went straight to the "Kistann" but that is by far the best pool in the river. Kistann pool is just bellow two large salmon stairs and normally there is a lot of salmon waiting to go up the stair there. We saw a lot of salmon and one well over 20pounds. We read later in the newspapers that the fishermen after us and through out the summer all saw this giant but no one caught him

The one and only fish caught the first day but a great one. 13pound female, fresh, taken on Black Ghost no 10. I was stripping the fly on the surface when she came flying out of the fast water and rolled her self on the fly!

One of two salmon stairs in Laxa in Refasveit (the newer one). The first stair was built in 1920 witch is amazing as the height of the canyon, the complexity of the stair and the lack of equipment make that work unbelievable as it was all done by hand. This is the newer stair built around 1980 and is also very impressive as you can not see marks of any kind of equipment that might have been used to build it.

10. July 2002. The last day this great male was caught in Kistann on a black, orange and yellow Snaelda 1" tube fly
