26. Augst 2003. Svalbardsa

There where two groups this year as Hilmar did not make it the f irst 3 days. Throstur, Joe, Lalli (just woke up), Magnus, Vidar, Hermann and my self.


Hilmar and Ingo arrived and Lalli and Herman gone.


Beautiful day on the mountain (Section 1). Taken down to Vadid ofan og nedan pool.


This photo is taken from way above Storifoss, pool no.1. I used a long lens and as you can see then there are at least five salmon sitting there. I later went down and fished that pool up stream and I hooked and landed the one that the arrow is pointing on, that one was 13 pounds! So given that then I would think the two above it are well over 25pounds.


26. August 2003. Two great Salmon from Nedri Eyrarhylur. Joe's 14pound female, mine 17pound male.


Ca. 12pound female taken in Nedri Eyrarhylur. The group caught at least 8 females this size in this trip. I released this one back into the pool.


Another two year old female, 11pounds taken above Urdarbrot pool.


Joe had hooked a nice size salmon in Laxahylur (we estimate. 15pounds). He pulled it a little bit hard and he broke the rod and the salmon got away. It was in the last minutes of the last day and a very disappointing end for Joe, but as always we love it.

Vidar in Nedri Eyrarhyl with the fly. I think this was the only time in this trip that he went out to fish. He spent most of the time in the lodge relaxing.


31. August 2003. This photo is taken the last day of our trip that year. I belive this was the last photo taken of me and Vidar Magnusson but he was my first fishing partner . He was the one that introduced me to salmon fishing. He was a great friend and partner but we also did some work together. He passed away on my birthday 5th of November 2003.
