Svalbardsa 2008
25th of August.Svalbardsa

Me, Joe, Brett, Jimmy and Dan at Reykjavik airport ready to go fishing.

The drive over from Egilsstadir to Svalbardsa is always quite something. Jimmy poses for the camera.

IIt's become quite a tradition to have a shot of Jagermeister before fishing start the first day (started in 2001 when Hilmar gave me and Joe shot of the medicine and right after that we caught 15 and 16pount salmon). From left: Brett, Palmi, Joe, Jimmy and Dan. Thorvaldur was to join us later that night to compleete the group.

25th. August 2008. I took dan up to Efri Eyrarhylur the first afternoon and tought him how to Hitch. After few cast he landed his first Atlantic Salmon (Mariulax), nice ~6pound male that got a kiss and was released.

Very nice!

The group fishing in Svalbardsa 2008 From left: Brett, Thorvaldur, James, Palmi, Dan and Joe. The dinner was spectacular as usual prepared by Sigga.

This is what I had for lunch the day after, one of my favorite!

26th. August 2008. Me and Jimmy had section 3 and started in Svalbards-selshylur. It did not take long until Jimmy had hooked into his first Salmon and after about 20 min fight he landed this beautiful ~12 pound female that after loosing her back fin was released.

Since it's Mariulax Jimmy had to bite the fin off and did so with out any hessitation!

Yep, now swollow dude...

Jimmy's salmon in the water.

27th. August 2008. Joe took Brett on the mountain and of course they fished the BT Special. Brett was the only one that caught salmon in the pool named after him this year (BT = Brett Tolly).

Joe did take this huge Artic Char out of BT Special. Somehow Joe is the only one that catches Artic Char in this river. I don't think I have ever cought one and don't remember anyone else catching one. But Joe, always at least one a year!

Joe with a nice one year old from Litli Foss. Landed it in Urdarbrot.

25th. August 2008. Thorvaldur in Litli Foss with + 20 pound Salmon on the line. After about an hour fight he broke off!

The main take in Litlifoss.

Jimmy in Klapparhylur. There was very little activity in this pool compared to 2007. The water was pretty low this year.

Spectacular scenery from Litli Foss. After 3 1/2 day of fishing, everyone had caught at least one Salmon and everyone very extremely happy with the trip. Brett, Dan and Jimmy drove to Egilsstadir to catch a flight to Reykjavik but all flight out of Egilsstadir was cancelled that day because of high winds! They instead drove to Reykjavik and took the flight out the day after. The drive they told me later was something they will never forget, the scenery was so spectacular. Me and Joe would move over to Sela for 3 more days.
