Sela 2009
August 29th 2009 - Sela

The first day me and Joe had section two. We went to Dimmhylur and Joe hooked into a nice one but it came off after few secounds. We then walked down all the way to Laekjarhylur and fished on the way but without catching anything. We would return to the lodge for dinner without catching a Salmon but in very good spirits.
Joe in Dimmhylur.

30th of August. In the morning we had section three and decided to do some exploring, or fish pools that we had never fished before. We went to Gljufurbreida (photo) and fished our self down to Arnarhylur were we finished off the morning. We did not get any action at all.

In the afternoon we had section 1 and I soon caught this one in one of my favorite pools, Leifstadarhylur. About 5kg Male on my favorite fly, Haugur Micro Hitch. Video of that fight bellow.

After fishing in Leyfstadarhylur for awhile we moved up to Rettarhylur where I took this one. Almost identical fish, around 5kg male on Haugur Micro Hitch.

Joe caught this one in Leifstadarhylur just before 9pm.

Dinner that night...Yummy!!!
31th of August.

We are back on section 2 in the morning and went back to Dimmhylur and Langistrengur. I took this one in Langistrengur, about 3kg female.

We finished up in the morning in Laekjarhylur where I caught this one. 8-10p male on Haugur Micro.

Later that same day we finished up in Arnarhylur. Around 8pm this 88cm girl took my Black Frances Cone head. I new when she took that it was quite big Salmon and I told Joe that she better stay in the pool as the terrain down from Arnarhylur does not look easy travel...about 10min into the fight she takes off downstream...another 10 min later and few suicide jumps over cliffs into the river she gave up.

1st of September. We finished up on section 1. This was my last Salmon 2009, 80cm female from Rettarhylur on Haugur Micro hitch. It was time to go back to the real world and start dreaming about 2010.
