June 25th 2010 - Laxa in Kjos


I was invited to go and open Laxa In Kjos this year but traditionally the land owners and leese holders of the river fish for a day and a half. The photo above is from Kvislarfoss, one of the best pools on beat one. This is where the first Salmon of the summer is always taken as it is pretty much always packed.

I arrived at the lodge the night before opening and enjoyed fantastic dinner with everyone. Photo above, Lalli and Johann landing the first Salmon of the year, caught by Thordis in Laekjarbreida.

June 26th 2010

I fished for a day and a half and saw some real action the first day but did not land anything but hooked into about 6 of them...The second day I finally landed one ~7 pound female in Klingeberg pool. I hooked into couple of others that day but they came off after some fight. All in all then the opening groups did really well and the biggest one caught was around 96cm or 19.4 pounds, caught by Jon Thor in Klingeberg. The lodge is really something and the food and service is world class! The lodge can be seen to the left in the background.


In the end I landed this very nice brown, about 5p in Fosshylur. These were two great days but the water was kind of low and takes kind of "thin".
