Green River UT 2006

When I meet Brett Tolly at the AAOS in Chicago he first told me about this fishing trip. This was a trip that he took every year with few friends and this was the 8th consecutive year. He asked if I would be able to join them and at first I told him I would most likely not be able to.

After looking into the schedule and shifting things around it looked like it would fit like a glove. I and one of my designers would be working in his area for few days and I would be able to fit this in right after that.

27th of May 2006. I drove to Utah with John Welaj to meet up with Brett but the plan was to fish a small creek named Jones Hole (there is another page for this creek) but then we meet up with the rest of the group by the Flaming Gorge that night. The total number guys was up to 9.

28th of May 2006. Decision was made to fish from Little Hole this day. The group geared up and got spread up from Little Hole about 2 miles. The hatch came late but the fishing was OK that day. We ended the day by going up to the dam and fishing there for awhile.

29th of May 2006. One more got added to the group and big discussions got going during breakfast about the strategy for the day. I wanted to hike from the dam and down to Little Hole but the rest wanted to float from the dam and down. This turned out great as it is comfy to have 3 in each boat. I ended up hiking around 6 miles of 7 but then Topper gave me his seat with Jordan and Brett. It was a great day with good fishing.

The scenery on the Green is like no other.

30th of May 2006. We fished from Little Hole and up but nothing happened that morning for most of us. We started walking back to the cars around 2pm and the weather was not very nice. As we where getting close to Little Hole, the wind dropped and it stopped raining, and the river was boiling...but it was time to go. Great river and great group.
