Hamsfork WY 2007
24th of April 2007
My self, Brett and Topper decided to leave early for the Green River this year to explore a couple of other places before we would fish the Green. 24th April we fished the upper Green River bellow Fontanel but fished only the spillway.

The Fontanel spillway.

The 25th we floated down from the spillway down to Silver Creek but we caught nothing but Whitefish. This was very disappointing as the river looked beautiful with great water. We meet some locals on the way down and they told us that there had been nothing but Whitefish in the river there for long time. Once in awhile they would catch a Rainbow or Brown. After getting the boat up we meet with John W and Dan and decided to drive to the Hamsfork and try to get a couple of hours there before it became dark. We fished for couple of hours and caught few rainbows.

It was just beautiful day and the drift was perfect.

Catch of the day, White fish...and lot's of them.
On the 26th of April we went back to fish the Hamsfork that is a tributary to the Flaming Gorge reservoir. It was very cold and there was still some ice on the lake and the river was running pretty high. Topper hooked into a big fish (around 10p we estimated) but it broke off after a good fight.

Topper fighting a big one! Broke off after few minutes.

I landed one nice 20" Rainbow and that was my only catch of the day. After fishing until around 2pm we headed down to the Flaming Gorge to meet with the rest of the group that would be fishing the Green River 2007.
